Dominic Martinez, Director.

Dominic started The First Hour in 2008. Prior to this Dominic worked for a number of universities in the North West of England. He is an experienced business development and project management expert having managed a number of high profile regional projects with a particular emphasis on small business support.

Using PRINCE 2 methodologies and 15 years of project management experience, Dominic is adept at managing whole project lifecycles from inception in projects such as Innospace or Spark Studio to large scale projects such as New Entrepreneur Scholarships or advising on ESF Graduate Employability programme for universities in the North West.

Dominic has also been involved in developing strategies and plans for funding applications and has successfully acquired over £10m worth of funding for a variety of organisations.

Dominic began his career at Emerald Group Publishing and was there for 8 years as a senior manager. Dominic has also worked for the North West Universities Association and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Helen Davies, Associate

Helen Davies, Associate

Helen joined the First Hour as an Associate in August 2011. She is a PRINCE2 qualified project manager, most recently specialising in service redesign within the NHS.

Helen has experience of managing change within large organisations and small businesses alike. Helen has worked closely with clinical staff and senior managers from four large NHS trusts based in the North West on projects which include:

• referral pathway redesign
• implementing new business systems
• primary care contract management
• Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) attainment projects

With a background in higher education publishing and innovation support, Helen looks forward to working with a wide range of organisations with The First Hour.
